Dharm Yudh Morcha II:
Dharam Yudh Morcha I saw hundreds of thousands of common Sikh peasantry, traders and students court arrest peacefully. The peaceful agitation seeking equal rights for Punjab in general and Sikhs in particular saw its zenith under the able leadership of Baba-E-Quam, Giani Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. Giani Sant Jarnail Singh Ji followed the basic Sikh political postulates of Nirbhau and Nirvair as he steered the Sikh Nation through the web of deceit, deception and failure to deliver. His steadfast leadership rendered the contemporary Shiromani Akali Dal, it’s youth wing and it’s control over SGPC ineffective as Giani Sant Jarnail Singh Ji exposed the actions of those in control of premier Sikh institutions.
The Akali Dal, it’s youth wing and SGPC colluded with Indian State to participate in Saka Amritsar of June 1984. The subsequent events saw the demise of Indian Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Indian Army Chief, General Vaidya. The Indian state unleashed its repressive machinery to suppress the just rights of Sikhs and forced disappearances, staged encounters, mass killings by vigilantes under impunity became the new normal. The Sikh Nation was terrorized not only within Punjab but across India Sikh activists were illegally abducted, illegally detained, illegally questioned and massacred.
Bapu Surat Singh Ji Khalsa, began Dharm Yudh Morcha II in the backdrop of previous peaceful attempts to secure release of Sikh Political Prisoners. Today as he enters 188th day of (Constitutionally legit) hunger strike Indian State and its provincial accomplice… Punjab administration acting under orders of its Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal tried to forcibly feed. His 83 year old, 35 kilo fragile body was contained with shackles and handcuffs. Bapuji’s body rejected to accept the force-feed and state administration tried in vain to have PGI accept Bapuji for a treatment. After PGI refused to accept “near-dead”, 35 kilo 83 year old man on his 188 days of hunger strike, Dayanand Medical College was begged to accept. Confirmed sources suggest that DMC refused and only after personal intervention of DGP Sumedh Saini and Dy CM Sukhbir Badal did DMC agreed to accept Bapuji.
The ball is the court of Administration. They can choose to pursue its denial policy of an underline political problem or proactively take a bold step to address and redress the wrongs of last five decades. Absence of violence isn’t peace. Peace is self evident wherever it is.
