Sikh activist Bhai Joga Singh ‘Khalistani’, who is well-known among the Sikh community worldwide, was the victim of a hit and run accident on Thursday 30th June. At the time, Joga Singh was travelling back from an agitation held by Sikhs in relation to the harassment and beating of a Sikh youth in Banga.
As per media reports, Joga Singh and his three associates were attacked by unidentified occupants of an Innova car near Bachchan Singh Chowk near Village Balloke. They were rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC). Joga Singh remains in a critical condition and is on a ventilator, while his associates, Gurdeep Singh and Sukhraj Singh, have received treatment for their injuries.
They alleged that it was a planned attack. Haibowal police have registered a case of attempted murder against the driver of the unknown car. Police have also seized a half broken number plate of the car.
Parminder Singh Amloh from Sikh Relief was at the DMC Hospital last night where he met Gurdeep Singh, Sukhraj Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, but doctors did not allow any visitors in the intensive care unit to see Joga Singh. Today, our team will meet with Joga Singh’s family to offer our support at this difficult time.
