Surinder Singh, Journalist and TV host of popular show ‘Talking Punjab’, appeared in an Ambala court on 7th May 2016, in the matter of his bail plea. Representing Surinder Singh, were senior advocate Rajvinder Singh Bains and advocate Balbir Singh Saini.
Surinder Singh has openly spoken of being on the ‘police radar’ ever since he began reporting on apparent drug seizures in Panjab, merely querying where the drug supply had been seized from and where it would then be stored. He has also shared his experiences of biased Indian media reporting against Sikhs, his journey as a journalist and his vow to report with integrity and honesty until his last breath.
It was on 17th October 2015 that the 27-year-old TADA case registered by Haryana’s Ghula Chika police, was lodged against Surinder Singh. Knowing of his innocence and in order to continue raising a voice against police impunity, corruption and harassment of Sikhs and other minority communities, Surinder Singh willingly surrendered himself at the Ambala District Court.
Sikh Relief senior members RP Singh and Parminder Singh Amloh, were present throughout the hearing and our team will continue to stand by and support Surinder Singh. The judge has set the next date for 30 May 2016 and we will bring you further updates as the case progresses.
