S. Surinder Singh is a Journalist with Talking Punjab, who has devoted his career to covering Sikh and Punjab issues. He was detained in October 2015 by Indian Authorities under an expired Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) under an alleged 27 year old case, when he was 13 years old, as a member of the Sikh Student Federation. He was denied bail, and is facing human rights abuses in prison. On the day of his arrest he was scheduled to interview Sikh Historian, Prof. Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon. Sukhbir Badal and his corrupt government are trying to silence S. Surinder Singh and prevent his investigative journalism from reaching the public domain.
He was previously arrested in 2015 after extensively covering Bapu Surat Singh’s hunger strike to release Sikh Political Prisoner’s who languish in Indian prisons even after completing their sentences. He was eventually released due to international pressure on social media.
