PATIALA: Several Sikh groups halted a goods train for about 30 minutes at Sirhind railway station on Friday to protest against controversial Punjabi movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’.
The protesters lashed out at the Centre not banning the film that had hurt Sikh sentiments.
The protesters ended their agitation after assurance of the district administration and Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara management to take up their demand with the concerned authorities.
Sukhjit Singh Khose, president Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee said the anti-Sikh face of the Centre has been exposed as it has failed to ban the movie which is hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Iqbal Singh, a member of the committee said: ” It seems that the RSS is pressurising the government to not ban the movie”
Sikh organisations demanded immediate country-wide ban on the screening of the film. Via time of india
