Shops and business in many areas of Punjab stayed shut on today following a formal protest was announced by Sikh organisations to protest against the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib, found on Monday.
Yesterday police shot at the protestors and killed two people and left several hundred others injured.
Areas such as Faridkot, Muktsar and other areas of Moga have remained closed today.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Badal, ordered a judicial probe into the vandalism of the Guru Granth Sahib, as well as the clashes that took place afterwards.
Thew deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, yesterday announced reward of 10 million rupees for information about culprits destroying Guru Granth Sahib at Kotkapura.
