We congratulate the Sikh Quam on having such resolute Soormeh in its midst that defiantly and bravely faced the terrorism of India.
“If by killing a cruel person I can save thousands of innocent people then it is not wrong”
– Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara
Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara left his home and vowed never to return. His quest, like many from his generation, was to give a response to state terror – no matter what the odds – no matter what the price.
If it wasn’t for the great sacrifices of such soormeh, throughout Sikh Itihas, we would have no self respect left in the world, no sense of ਅਣਖ (Ankh: sense of honour, self-respect, right or just pride).
It has taken 23 years for tyrant India to deliver a life sentence verdict for our brother. This sentence means nothing to a Sikh – who from the day he left his home wrote his ‘life’ over to the Quam’s future. Such audacity, courage and determination to uproot oppression is truly rare.
We have immense privileges living in the diaspora. We have survived and escaped state terror. Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara gave his youthfulness to the Quam, he has spent most of his life in jail or underground. He truly lived his life for the Panth.
Our voice must express our struggle as Sikhs. No one else will. No government or politician will ever even allow us to talk about “violence” let alone giving any support to Sikhs for their freedom.
This is our Sangharsh it defines our future and is solely in our hands with the grace of the Guru.
Dhan Guru Dhan Guru Piyaareh.
