We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Sangat who have contributed towards the funds for families affected by the recent police brutality at Kotkapura and surrounding areas.
Where we face daily challenges of sacrilege and desecration of our Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikh nation also bears the pain of losing another two honest and upstanding citizens, mown down by police bullets as they served langar to the masses who were gathered to protest against the beadbi.
Sikh Relief have been back to visit the parents of Gurjit Singh and the wife and father of Kishan Bhagwan Singh and together they opened a Fixed Deposit Investment account with the State Bank of India, of 5 Lakhs Rs each (approximately £5,000). It is hoped the investment will generate a monthly income of 7000Rs, which they can use to budget their household needs and continue to pay for their childrens education. We cannot bring back their loved ones, but at this heartbreaking time it is our duty to help ease their troubles.
