CM Badal & Sukhbir Badal – I am helpless on Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa issue

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal says that he is helpless on the matter of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is sitting on hunger strike from 6 months and sikh prisoners. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal claims he has to follow orders of supreme court and according Supreme court orders they cannt do anthing. He said it was important to arrest and admit Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa in hospital to maintain peace and harmony.

On the other hand, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Surkhbir Singh Badal writes on his facebook-
On the issue of release of Sikh prisoners from jails, let me clarify that the Supreme Court has barred the states to release any prisoner before completion of his conviction. SO, EVEN IF WE WANT TO RELEASE ANY SUCH PRISONER, WE CANNOT. The matter is sub-judice and under consideration of constitutional bench of Supreme Court. Till the final verdict of the apex court, no state can decide about the release of any prisoner in any situation. Punjab Government has also filed an appeal in the apex court to decide the issue at the earliest. This is what I expressed while kicking off Rs. 4000 crore water supply, sewerage and street light project with laying down the foundation stone of Rs. 211 crore projects for Bathinda city. From mid August the work on provisioning of all civic amenities would be initiated in about 150 towns.

Sukhbir Badal speaking to press reporters stated the Akali Dal received a ‘historic response’ during it’s meetings overseas. Regarding the protests he said, only 40-50 people who are against ‘us’ protested.

He denied the diaspora having gone against the Akalis but instead stated the overwhelming majority supports the party.
