Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Stops Intake of Water at DMC Hospital   Recently updated !

LUDHIANA, Punjab—85 years old Sikh activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has stopped drinking water.  Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa announced this decision on November 27 after being disallowed by the Ludhiana Administration to attend a religious function held in Bathinda to commemorate sacrifice of his son-in-law Satwinder Singh Bhola.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is currently being detained and force fed at Room No. 382 of the Dayanand Medical College & Hospital of Ludhiana. In the absence of any effort by the Punjab government to ensure release of political Sikh prisoners, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has continued his hunger protest even though he has facing immense mental torture.

Speaking with Sikh24 over phone, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa said that he has been barred by the Administration from attending the commemorative program for his son-in-law Satwinder Singh Bhola. He added that he was willing to breathe last at his own residence in village Hassanpur but the Punjab government has forcibly detained him in DMCH, Ludhiana.

It is pertinent to note here that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on hunger protest since January 16, 2015 seeking release of political Sikh prisoners. In August 2015 when mass movement in favour of Bapu Surat Singh’s struggle was at peak in Punjab, his son-in-law Satwinder Singh Bhola was murdered by unknown assailants in USA. Sikh24
