We would like to draw your kind attention towards the above mentioned movie, set to release on April 22, 2016. It is very disheartening to know that this type of movie is being released in public, which will only affect the image of one community.
COMMUNITY – for which Supreme Court says “The Country and its people are Proud of Sikhs”. COMMUNITY – which has always been there, for the people, by the people and with the people. Please be informed that Mr. Akashdeep Sabir was called by our Central Body in Mumbai, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Dadar to discuss this issue.
Movie was also screened and it is really painful to inform that Sikhs have been shown as dumbest in the movie, dressed funny, portray Sikhs a comic character. We have been fighting against the Sikh Jokes since long and this upcoming movie is “Air to the Fire”. Also, to inform you, there is already a case pending in Supreme Court “Harvinder Chowdhury vs. Union of India, in which ban on environment of ridicule of the Sikh Community through verbal jokes and on social media is sought”. And releasing this movie is contempt of court as the matter is sub-judice. Kindly take appropriate steps to get the film censored and stay the release on this film. You are requested to look into the matter seriously and take appropriate action by passing an effective order in the interest of peace, justice and fairness. Also, attached is a copy of letter submitted to Viacom, Censor Board and Minority Commission, by Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dadar and response from Minority Commission. Looking forward for immediate action to order stay the release of the film. We take the privilege of thanking you in total reverence.
